Riverside Doghouse complete 1Last minute interest and bids on the Riverside doghouse has made school officials decide to extend the deadline one-week, until Friday, May 29th at 2:30.

The bid is currently at $350 dollars and was placed by a Mishawaka family who trumped all other bids thus far!

The school said before that bid came in they received several other calls on Friday from interested parties who said they just found out about the doghouse and they wanted to come see it.

RIverside_DogHouse_5Jeff Hunter, Riverside Intermediate School PBL Teacher said, “Originally the plan for our doghouse, the high bidder to be announced at the end of our school day on May 22nd, however we’ve had some last minute bidding opportunities.  We’ve had some people call in and asked for that to be extended, I feel bad – however I did talk to the high bidder that was fine and they want to raise as much money as possible for the Humane Society, so we extended it out to Friday.”

Three teachers from Riverside and eight 5th grade boys built the doghouse after school as a mentor club project. The club met on Tuesday’s after school for one hour at Plymouth High School.

A $250 grant allowed Riverside teachers to purchase the materials for the project and all proceeds raised will be donated to the Marshall County Humane Society.

Bidding started off at $5 on Wednesday, May 13th.  Interested dog lovers can stop by and see the doghouse at Riverside Intermediate School in Plymouth during business hours 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
