Walorski_RonGiffordRepresentative  Jackie Walorski (IN-02) announced this week’s honoree for her ‘Who’s Who in IN-02’ initiative. During a speech on the House floor, Walorski paid tribute to Starke County Initiative for Lifelong Learning (SCILL) Director Ron Gifford for his dedication to creating and nurturing a trained workforce for the growing industrial base in Starke County.

SCILL is a two-year training school for juniors, seniors, and industrial employees, offering several continuing education courses, computer classes, and an automotive technology program. Gifford works to ensure Starke County employers have access to highly-trained workers equipped with skills needed to compete in the global market of the 21st century.

Walorski said, “Currently, the demand for qualified workers is increasing at a pace far greater than existing communities can produce. Thanks to Ron’s dedication, SCILL has focused on developing and training more workers to meet this demand, building a strong workforce, and ensuring the steady growth of our economy,” Walorski said. “On behalf of the people of the Second Congressional District of Indiana, I thank Ron Gifford for elevating the contributions skilled workers make to our state and ensuring our economy is stronger than ever.”
