“Today’s vote puts us that much closer to the goal of getting rid of Obamacare. This law has buried Hoosiers under oppressive mandates, higher healthcare costs, damaging taxes, confusing rules, and miles of red tape. Dismantling these key pieces of Obamacare will provide much-needed relief to the individuals and businesses from the damage inflicted by this harmful law. In addition, this bill shifts funds to community health centers and away from facilities like Planned Parenthood for one year while the House investigates claims they profited from selling fetal parts and tissue from aborted fetuses. I urge the Senate to pass this bill and send it to President Obama’s desk. ”

The bill would repeal certain provisions of Obamacare and would place a moratorium on federal Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood.  Budget reconciliation rules would allow legislation to move through the Senate on a majority vote, preventing Democrats from filibustering the measure.  The bill passed the House by a vote of 240-189 and now heads to the Senate for further consideration.

Walorski represents the 2nd Congressional District in Indiana, where she serves as a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, House Armed Services Committee, and House Committee on Agriculture.
