Close to 400 students and staff members of Webster Elementary School will line the procession route this morning, September 3rd, to say goodbye to Marshall County Sheriff Tom Chamberlin who passed away last Friday night at his home after an extensive battle with cancer for more than a year.
Webster students and staff members will be united in support outside of Webster holding #501 Strong signs to pay tribute to Sheriff Chamberlin as his police escorted procession moves from the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home to the Plymouth Wesleyan Church, which will pass by Webster starting around 9:15 a.m. this morning.
Some of the students who are in grades K-4 have been busy using crayons and markers adding special pictures and messages to the signs they will be holding that display the #501 STRONG.
50 in “#501 Strong,” references Marshall County’s designated number in police radio communications and the number 1 signifies the sheriff’s number.
The students and staff at Webster Elementary School want the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and Chamberlin’s family and friends, along with the community to know that the entire Plymouth School Corporation appreciates all the years of service that Sheriff Chamberlin dedicated to protecting and serving our schools and our community.
Not only did Chamberlin serve as the County’s Sheriff, but he once worked as the Plymouth Police Chief and his children attended Plymouth schools, including Webster Elementary.
Church services are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at the Plymouth Wesleyan Church on South Michigan Road. Burial will be in the New Oakhill Cemetery.
