MugSHot_April HogleOn Friday, October 2, at approximately 10:00 p.m. an officer with the Marshall County Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation on US 30 in the area of Rose Road.

 

During the traffic stop it was believed that the driver, 34 year old April Hogle, of Whiting was under the influence of a Controlled Substance.  Hogle was found to be in possession of a substance believed to be heroin and attempted to hide paraphernalia including syringes with a child in the vehicle.  Hogle was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Plymouth where she failed a certified test.  She was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a person younger than 18, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated with a Prior Charge, Possession of Controlled Substance, and Possession of Paraphernalia.  Her children were transferred to the care of their father.

 

 

Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed.  They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
