MugShot_William LawsonA 9-11 call Sunday morning led Marshall County Police to a male subject who had been in a collision near Lake of the Woods.  It was also determined he had been involved in a crash in Saint Joseph County prior to the accident in Marshall County.

Just before 4 a.m. Sunday County Police were dispatched for a crash near the intersection of West Shore Drive and 4th Road.  Officers located 49 year old William Fredrick Lawson of Plymouth in the driver’s seat of a 2001 Ford F150.

During the investigation it was determined that Williams had been involved in an earlier collision in St. Joseph County and had fled the scene.   County police were able track evidence back to the scene of the original crash on Miami Road in St. Joe County.

Lawson was highly intoxicated and his blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit.  He was booked into the Marshall County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated, a Class A Misdemeanor.

This incident is still under investigation as investigators work with Saint Joseph County Police.
