Habitat_PlumStreetHabitat for Humanity of Marshall County continues to make progress with their 16th house build.   Many hands were on deck this past Saturday taking time out of their week to help a family create a home.

Dean Buyer, Executive Director of Habitat said, “Words don’t express our gratitude towards these people. It is neat to work alongside others you may have never come in contact with. We thank each and every one of you for coming into our lives.”

This past Saturday regular helpers and volunteers were able to get a lot of the drywall done, the main level and most of the basement. Plumbing has been finished and NIPSCO was scheduled to come this week to turn on power! Byers said, “Power means we will have heat, with the weather that we have ahead of us, heat will be nice!”

Owners, Brent and Lindsay Schrader have kitchen cabinets and counter tops picked out. They have been ordered and will be here in a few weeks. Byer said, “We have come far since we began in late summer.”

This coming Saturday they will continue with finishing up the drywall. Byers said, “We would love to see many familiar and new faces.” Invite your friends and neighbors. Work begins at 8 a.m. at the house site, 617 Pennsylvania Avenue in Plymouth. Byers said, “We hope to see you all there, the more people we have the faster our work is done. We do have a morning snack break and lunch is provided!”

Do you have a church group, youth group, business that would like to volunteer hours? This is a great work to give back to the community.
