County News_logoJanuary was a very busy month for the Marshall County Building Inspector Chuck DeWitt.  Due to the better weather conditions 17 footings and 10 foundations were poured and 14 final inspections for completed on jobs finishing up.  February’s weather was not so conducive to outside work and only 10 footing and 2 foundations were completed and then in March the weather was more cooperative and 21 footings and 5 foundations were poured.

During the first quarter of 2016 a total of 97 building permit applications were received with an estimated project value of $3,219,188.  DeWitt noted that the number of permits issued substantially increased from 80 in 2015 to 132 in 2016 although the value of the projects is dramatically lower.  In 2015 the estimate projects were valued at $8.1 million while the first quarter of this year the projects are valued at $3.2 million.   DeWitt said, “I expect some larger jobs as the year goes on to move the bottom line number up.”
