Water_ledyard_craneThe Ledyard Water Treatment Plant upgrade project in Plymouth is well underway.

Water_Ledyard_filtersLast summer Thieneman Construction from Westfield was awarded the bid to complete the Ledyard Water Treatment Plant.  Thieneman’s base bid was $3,132,000.

The facility was originally constructed in 1968 and updated in 1979.

Water_Ledyard_pumpThis major renovation project includes replacement of the horizontal pressure filters, replacement of the filter media, replacement of the backwash water pumps, replacement of all valves and associated piping and sampling lines, replacement of 4 high service pumps, replacement of flow meters, a new laboratory, work on the building, parking area and electrical modifications.

Water_Ledyard_new filtersThe first half of the project is complete and producing water for city customers.  On Wednesday the second set of filters were delivered to the Ledyard plant.

Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson said substantial completion is in mid June.
