CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL – The Ancilla College softball team lost two games at Prairie State College by scores of 9-1 and 6-4.

The visiting Chargers (2-2) scored first in both games, but were unable to hold their leads.

In game one Melia Gonzalez began the game with a double down the line, was moved to third by a sacrifice by Allena McElfresh and scored on a Brittany Probasco groundout. It would prove to be Ancilla’s only run of the game. Prairie State (2-0) scored five in the third, one in the fourth, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth. McElfresh picked up the only other Charger hit in the game in the fourth inning.

Game two began with three runs being scored by Ancilla in the first inning and ended with the Chargers outhitting the host Pioneers 11-7, but it wasn’t enough. Probasco and Morgan Lippens both were 3-4 at the plate, while Gonzalez added a two hit performance to the mix. Probasco also had three innings of shutout relief performance.

Lauren Prohl picked up the loss in both games for Ancilla.
