DONALDSON, IN – The Ancilla College Athletic Department wrapped up their fall sports seasons with an elegant evening at Swan Lake Resort where several student athletes were honored.
The banquet provided an opportunity for the student athletes and their families to dress up and celebrate not only their success but the success of the other fall sports teams as well. The teams being recognized that evening included the Charger volleyball, men’s soccer and women’s soccer teams. Individual awards were presented for Most Valuable Player (MVP), Most Improved Player and Coaches Award. Directly following the athletic department awards presentation, each team was given the opportunity to award team specific accolades.
The Lady Charger volleyball team awarded Antoinette Dashner the Most Improved Athlete Award, Samantha Brenneman and Jackie Friel took home the Offensive Award and Natalee Walters the Defensive Award. Bayli Fearnow was given the Mental Attitude Award along with teammate Samantha Albers and Sophia Smith was awarded the Blue/Gold Award. Smith and Friel were also the recipients of the Highest Grade Point Average.
The Ancilla Men’s Soccer Team award recipients included Romario Piggott as MVP, Manuel Castellon as Most Improved Player and Lee Nicholson received the Coaches Award. The team was also recognized for their 2015 Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Conference Championship with the presenting of the MCCAA Conference Championship plaque from Athletic Director Gene Reese. Head Coach Dave Jacobs was also presented with a plaque for being named the MCCAA Head Coach of the Year for 2015.
The Charger Women’s Soccer team wrapped up their inaugural season by awarding Woodlyn Robuste, recipient of First Team Region XII All-Region, First Team MCCAA All-Conference and MCCAA All-Freshman Team awards, the MVP Award. Megan Benoit was awarded the Coaches Award and Heather Jaki was presented with the Iron Charger award.
“It was a fun evening that provided an exciting opportunity to celebrate the time, hard work and effort these student athletes have put in throughout the fall,” said Ancilla College Athletic Director Gene Reese. “We appreciate their dedication and commitment to Ancilla College Athletics and congratulate them on their successful seasons.”
