DONALDSON, IN – The Ancilla College Athletic Department recently honored 85 student-athletes for their exemplary academic performances at its annual Athletic Director’s Honor Dinner.
Athletes from ten varsity and two junior varsity teams were recognized for their efforts during the first semester. Those athletes recognized included those who had the highest individual GPA on their team, the most improved individual GPA on their team, and those who posted at least a 3.0 GPA during the semester.
“Each fall semester the Athletic Director’s Academic Dinner recognizes academic achievement,” said Ancilla College Athletic Director Gene Reese. “We want our student-athletes to realize that academics come first.”
The Athletic Director’s Honor Dinner is one of two events the department uses to reinforce its commitment to academics. The department also awards the “President’s Cup” at the end of the year, highlighting the team with the highest overall grade point average.
