The Argos Jr.-Sr. High School Guidance Department is eager to help families with the next step in their student’s educational process. Students that are juniors or seniors and their parents are invited to the Argos Jr.-Sr. High School on Monday, February 8th a 6:30 p.m. for a Financial Aid Information Meeting in the school library on.
Marcy Hopple, Director of Financial Aid at Ancilla College, will be the speaker for this timely topic. Marcy has a deep background in financial aid and is eager to assist Marshall County families regardless of their college destination. She will begin the meeting with an overview of the whole financial aid process.
Approximately at 7:30 PM, seniors and their parents will move to the computer lab to work on filing their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online. This is a great opportunity to get this done while having an expert by your side to answer any questions.
This evening is scheduled for February in the hope that finalized tax materials (for both parents and students) can be brought and a final FAFSA can be submitted online. If your tax materials are not finalized, please bring estimates so that a preliminary FAFSA can be submitted. A FAFSA (either with preliminary numbers or final numbers) must be submitted by March 1st with final numbers required by May 15th.
New this year, a Spanish Interpreterwill be available at the meeting to assist families that need this service.
Each senior and one parent will need a USERNAME and PASSWORD created through the FSAID Website. You can apply for these at any time at https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm but PLEASE apply for these by Feb. 1st so that they can be finalized before the Feb. 8th meeting. Then please bring both sets of username and password to the meeting.
If you have already electronically filed your taxes, FAFSA now interacts with IRS so many figures may be merged automatically.
Both parents and students are encouraged to attend this meeting if at all possible. Families from area schools are also welcome to attend.
