Phillip Gulley

Philip Gulley, the voice of small-town American life, is coming to the Bremen Public Library Thursday, July 28 at 6:30 in the evening. He will share inspirational and humorous anecdotes from his books, including his memoir, I Love You, Miss Huddleston.

Gulley’s memoir has been selected for this summer’s community book discussion, One Book, One Town. Stop by the Adult Desk at the Bremen Public Library to borrow a copy of this humorous, light-hearted and relatable book.

Gulley currently resides in his childhood hometown of Danville with his wife, Joan, and their sons, Spencer and Sam. He attended Marian College in Indianapolis where he studied theology and sociology. He then received his master’s of divinity in 1992 from Christian Theological Seminary. While in seminary, he became the pastor of Irvington Friends Meeting in Indianapolis and began writing essays for the church’s newsletter. Paul Harvey, Jr. received those newsletters and shared them with a publisher. A few months later, the publisher invited Gulley to publish his essays, which became his first book, Front Porch Tales.

Gulley is the author of 18 books including the acclaimed Harmony series of novels chronicling life in the eccentric Quaker community of Harmony, Indiana and the best-selling Porch Talk series of inspirational and humorous stories.

This program is made possible through a partnership between Bremen Public Library, Bremen Chamber of Commerce and the Bremen Ministerial Association.
