The 50th Annual Blueberry Festival is right around the corner! The four-day event is held Labor Day Weekend, which will be this Friday, September 2, 2016 through Monday, September 5.
Plymouth High School is excited to announce the high school parking lot is once again the Blueberry Festival’s official parking spot. The high school is located at #1 Big Red Drive.
The parking cost per vehicle is $8.00 for a daily pass or $16.00 for an entire weekend pass, which allows motorists access to and from the lot on all four festival days. For a fee of $25.00, motor-homes, recreational vehicles and campers are permitted for overnight parking.
Included with the high school parking cost is a FREE tram ticket for all festival-goers in your vehicle! Trams are handicapped accessible and shuttle festival-goers back and forth from the heart of the Blueberry Festival and the high school.
Part of the proceeds raised from parking at Plymouth High School benefit student groups at the school such as: the swim team, band, choir, robotics, stage crew, acting, Spanish, AFS, and the speech and debate team at the high school as well as the speech team at Lincoln Junior High School.
This is an annual fundraiser for these groups; hundreds of students and staff members work long hours all week training and preparing the grounds for thousands of visitors! During the Labor Day weekend, these groups spend the majority of the weekend in the parking lot directing visitors safely into parking spots. Upon the conclusion of the four-day event, hours of parking lot cleanup take place to restore the area back to normal for school on Tuesday.
The Plymouth Boys Baseball team will be opening up the restrooms once again at Bill Nixon Field in Centennial Park for patrons on their way to and from the festival. The team and coach Wolfe will be selling Culligan water for a $1.00 a bottle as well as selling the use of the restroom for $.50. The restrooms are clean and have running water. This is a big fundraiser for the baseball team and coach and the players appreciate the community support and thank the Blueberry Festival for allowing PHS Baseball to partner with them and offer this service.
Webster Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Organization and Washington Discovery Academy’s Parent Teacher Organization will also be parking vehicles directly northwest from Plymouth High School at the adjacent amphitheater lot. Cost for a daily spot is $5 and hours for festival are Friday 12 p.m.-9 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m.-9 p.m, Sunday 7 a.m.-9:30 p.m. and Monday 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
Parking proceeds raised will help fund field trips, incentives, family events, classroom decorations, library books and supplies, as well as other items at both schools.
