ArrestedOn Thursday August 18, at approximately 10:40 pm the Marshall County Central Communications dispatched officers to the WalMart store in Plymouth.

A female victim called from a bathroom in WalMart and reported that she had been strangled by her boyfriend.

Officers from Plymouth and Marshall County Police departments arrived at the scene and made contact with the victim who had called 911.

The victim identified the suspect who was located by officers in the WalMart store. During the investigation it was learned that that the victim was traveling in a vehicle with the suspect, 23 year old Jose Cruz from Bremen to Plymouth.   During that time the Cruz  and victim argued and Cruz strangled the victim several times.

The victim told police she was able to get out of the vehicle in the WalMart parking lot and ran to the restroom and call 911.

Jose Cruz was booked at the Marshall County Jail and charged with Strangulation and Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury.  His cash bond was set at $1,500.
