Plymouth Color Logo2014The Plymouth Common Council approved the 2017 Salary Ordinance for Elected Officials on 2nd and 3rd reading Monday night with an amendment.

After bringing the original ordinance to the floor for consideration councilman Shawn Grobe motioned to amend the ordinance and remove the $500 pay raise for council members and instead include a 1.5% increase for 2017 instead which would be slightly over $100.

The suggested amendment was approved by a 6 to 1 vote with Councilman Gary Cook voting against.  The amended ordinance was then passed on 2nd and 3rd reading with 6 to 1 votes with Councilman Cook being the lone no vote each time.

Councilman Gary Cook explained his no votes by saying, he had planned to amend to 2017 elected official’s salary ordinance to include no salary increase for any elected officials but councilman Grobe beat him to the amendment.

It was noted that raises for the Mayor and Clerk Treasurer are less than 2% for 2017.
