fireboots & helmetWith very little business during the Plymouth Common Council meeting Monday night, new member, Gary Cook made a recommendation to amend the recently passed ordinance that allows retiring city police officer the ability to purchase their service weapons for $1.00 when they retire.

Cook, a former police officer for the City of Plymouth suggested amending the ordinance to allow firemen and paramedics to ability to purchase their helmets and boots for $1.00 when they retire.

Cook noted that his suggestion was not because his cousin, George Cook’s retirement was announced Monday night.

Fire Chief Rod Miller read Cook’s letter of retirement during the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.  After 34 years on the department, Cook will retire on May 4th.   The fire chief was also granted permission to begin the hiring process to replace Cook.
