City NEwsMonday night the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety opened quotes for a half-ton pick-up truck, one for the Water Department and one for the Waste Water Department.

Oliver Ford and County Auto were the only two bidders.  Oliver Ford bid on an F-150 for the Water Department with a base bid of $31,060 and offered $800 trade-in for the 1996 pick-up while Country Auto bid $29,270 as the base bid and $500 for the trade-in.  They also bid on an alternate tool box a $1,063.

The bids for the Waste Water pick-up was $28,523 base bid of Oliver Ford and a $1,200 for the trade-in while Country Auto had a base bid of $29,270 and $500 for the trade-in.  Country also offered a bid for the alternate tool box at $1,063.

The bids were taken under advisement for review and permission was granted to allow Superintended Donnie Davidson to award the low quote that meets spec prior to the next meeting which will be in 3 weeks.

Utility Superintendent Davidson was also given the approval to replace a laborer employee in the Water Department.

City Engineer Rick Gaul was granted approval to begin negotiations for the construction engineer and inspection contracts for the Safe Routes to School project and City Attorney Seas Surrisi told board members he continues to work on improvements to several railroad crossings with the railroad companies, but “it’s a slow process,” he said.
