Centennial Park_front gateVerizon has approached the Plymouth Park Board with the possibility of leasing space in Centennial Park.

Last year during the Marshall County Blueberry Festival Verizon brought in an antenna truck near the fast pitch diamond to give vendors and visitors additional cell service in the park.

Verizon would like to lease 4 wooden telephone poles in the park and place small antennas on them allow better cell service throughout the park year round.

Park Superintendent Mike Hite said they are asking for a 5 year agreement with the park.

City Attorney Sean Surrisi told members that they would need to seek competitive quotes for the service that Verizon want to provide.  He said he doubtful that any other provide were offer a proposal but the park would need to solicit quotes.

The plan is to open proposals at their April meeting.

In other business Mayor Mark Senter told members of the Plymouth Park Board the Mayor’s Youth Council will conduct an Earth Day – Arbor Day celebration on April 23rd at 9 a.m. in River Park Square.
