On July 22  officers from the Plymouth Police Department investigated a case of suspected credit card fraud at the Pak A Sak on West Jefferson Street.  The employee was able to give the officer a description of the suspect’s vehicle and a direction of travel.

A short time later the suspect was seen walking out of the Family Express on West Jefferson Street carrying a bag that contained a large amount of cigarettes.

City officers stopped the suspect identified as 24 year old Mene Whatley of Chicago.   He produced several credit cards and said he had purchased the cigarettes with one of the cards.

An investigation by the Plymouth Police Department revealed that the card used was counterfeit and that data on the magnetic strip did not match the numbers displayed on the card. Further investigation revealed that Whatley had purchased cigarettes at the Family Express on South Michigan Street with a counterfeit credit card earlier.

Mene Whatley was incarcerated at the Marshall County Jail on a $10,000.00 cash bond.
