Commissioners 2016Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel had several requests during Monday’s Commission meeting.

Deputy Brandon Cooper has been training to be a Drug Recognition Expert and the final practicum originally scheduled for Marion County has been moved to Jacksonville, FL.  All expenses for the four day testing will be paid for by the state with Marshall County only needed to cover the hourly rate while he is there.  The Sheriff asked for permission for Cooper to travel out of state in mid April.

The second request pertains to the Drug Task Force that is housed at the County Jail.  Their current software package is obsolete and the company is no longer existent.  A new software package is $4,488.75.  The commissioners approved the sheriff’s request to use DEA forfeiture and seizer funds for the purchase.

The final request by the sheriff was a replacement copier that is in the 2016 budget.  Three quotes were solicited and two were presented; Community Business of Bremen for $9,131.50 and Adam’s Remco in South Bend for $7,971.00.  The commissioners approved the low quote.
