The request to the county commissioners to place a small basketball court in the center of a cul-de-sac on Ivory Court was tabled for further review.
On Monday Jack Bell approached the commissioners with the idea of creating a 25 by 30 court on the grassy cul-de-sac. Bell said he and his neighbor would share the cost to create it and maintain it.
Ivory Court is a county road and therefore the commissioners had concerns of liability. There is also the possibility of setting a precedent for other cul-de-sacs.
Commissioner Kurt Garner asked if the commissioner would have to accept the basketball court as an improvement.
Mr. Bell is so supportive of the idea he asked if the commissioners could dead the property to him so that he could have insurance on it.
The commissioners did not take any action on the request. They will research the request and consider it at their next meeting.
