This Friday night the Plymouth Community School Corporation administration along with the Plymouth High School athletic department invite the community to celebrate a monumental milestone with the staff and students at a special Rockpile dedication ceremony that officially begins at 7:10 p.m.
The dedication will take place on the 35-yard line and will be viewable from both the home and visitor seating.
The dedication will begin with a PA announcement by PHS assistant athletic director John Scott introducing the Bremen Lions football team and head coach, followed by the introduction of the PHS football team and head coach, the PHS band, the PCSC school board of trustees, PHS principal and athletic department staff followed by the PCSC administrative team, including central office second year summer intern Cassi Quissell.
Quissell, a 2015 PHS graduate, is currently in her second year at Ball State University where she is studying architecture. She played an intricate role in designing the initial revamped Rockpile during her first year summer internship with PCSC last year. This year Quissell was back interning for Plymouth Schools and she was able to see the project through to fruition. Her love for design was sparked during her sophomore year at PHS when shestarted taking Project Lead the Way (PLTW) courses. As an upperclassman she was enrolled in the PHS Construction Technology program, formerly known as the building trades program, where her blueprint designs were chosen by the program’s instructor for the house the students actually built two years in a row.
Friday night’s Rockpile dedication ceremony will conclude close to 7:30 p.m. with an official rebuilding the Rockpile ribbon cutting. Five current Plymouth High School students will have the honor of cutting the ribbon together to signify the opening of the newly rebuilt Rockpile! The five students are as follows: Nicole Horvath, a senior representing PHS girls track; Nathan Patterson, a junior representing boys track; Hannah Walker, a senior representing cheerleading; Caleb Koss, a senior representing the football team; along with Gabe Celmer, a senior representing the band.
Gates open at 5:15 p.m. for those who want to arrive early to get a look at the new and improved Rockpile. Friday night is also, “Senior Night”, where this year’s theme is a Hawaiian “Luau”. Senior festivities will begin at 6:50 p.m. Again, the dedication of the Rockpile ceremony will officially take place starting at 7:10 p.m. Kickoff against
Marshall County rivals, the Plymouth High School Rockies and the Bremen Lions is set for 7:30 p.m.
