Described as a “hodge-podge” both elevators are old and outdated and parts don’t exist to repair them any more.

The county refurbishment the two elevators in the County Building and the one in the Historical Museum with in the past several years and that’s exactly what the maintenance department wants to do with the current ones in the Court House. The elevator itself would remain the same but the parts that control it would all be replaced.

A quote to make the necessary repairs was $80,000 for the north elevator which is original to the annex in 1988 and $85,000 for the south one.

The commissioners motioned to move forward with the improvement project and asked the maintenance department to seek an additional appropriation from the County Council in their July meeting.
