Democrat Rex Crump filed his candidacy Monday afternoon in the Marshall County Clerk’s Office. Crump is seeking the Commissioner seat in district 2, currently held by Deb Griewank who decided to not seek a second term as she and her husband plan to relocate to the central part of Indiana next year.
Mike Delp filed on the republican ticket the first day for the second district seat and so far is unopposed for the republican primary in May.
Crump most recently challenged Mayor Mark Senter for the city’s top chair during the municipal general election in November and was defeated by the two-time incumbent.
When asked why he wanted to run again Crump said, “I am retiring from my property management business in July, but I wish to remain active. So I have chosen to re-enter public service.”
Candidates have until noon on Friday, February 5th to file for the primary.
