StarkeCountyMugShot_Shawn GentryOn July 2, 2015 officers from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department responded to a burglary at the corner of 1000 E and 250 S in Starke County. The unnamed victim told police that unknown suspects had gained entry into a building and removed several items. The victim also stated that the suspects hotwired the truck and removed it from the building. Once outside the suspects got the truck stuck in the mud and were unable to go any further with it.

Detectives from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department and Knox Police Department were able to obtain DNA and fingerprints at the scene and submit them to the Indiana State Police Lab for testing. A positive identity was obtained through this testing.

Shawn Gentry, age 25 of Knox was identified as the suspect.

Gentry was arrested and is currently being held at the Starke County Jail on a $25,000.00 Surety Bond for Preliminary charges of Burglary, Auto Theft, Criminal Mischief and Theft.
