Thursday evening dozens of Bremen residents attended the grand opening of the new dog park on Woodies Lane to be know as Karen’s Bark Park.
The park was a join effort between the Town of Bremen and the township. Approximately $20,500 has been spent so far for the fencing, grading, hydro seeding and signage.
Following a short dog parade Mr. Bill Daily, Town Council member read a resolution recognizing and honoring Karen Garverson, a long standing employee as the Utility Deputy Clerk and Clerk-Treasurer Deputy. The park was dedicated in recognition of Karen’s love for animals, especially dogs.
All shapes, sizes, and breeds of dogs joined the fun with free ice cream and water. After the official ribbon cutting dogs that are currently registered with the town were welcomed into the park while those who weren’t registered had the opportunity to become registered and given a pass code to use the park anytime.
The new park is essentially two fenced areas, one for large breeds and one for smaller breads. Later this year a doggie drinking fountain, concrete approach and specialized waste receptacles will be installed. Next year the Bremen Park Department hopes to add obstacles and play structures.
