My Approved PortraitsU.S. Senator Joe Donnelly released the following statement after the U.S. announced Sunday it will apply sanctions in response to Iran conducting ballistic missile tests in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1929. The sanctions will be imposed against 11 entities and individuals involved in supporting Iran’s ballistic missile program‎. These sanctions come in the wake of Iran test launching ballistic missiles twice in recent months in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1929.

Donnelly said, “Iran’s ballistic missile tests are in direct violation of a UN Security Council Resolution. I support the clear and decisive U.S. response through sanctions, and I hope our international partners will now follow our lead. Our willingness to apply these sanctions is not only allowed under the terms of the Iran nuclear agreement, but critical to that agreement’s success. Iran’s ballistic missiles pose a threat to U.S. national security interests, and I will continue to fight to fully fund missile defense initiatives that protect the U.S. and our allies in the Middle East.”
