Vote centerThe Marshall County Election Board continues to move forward with the steps necessary to change Marshall County from precincts to vote centers.

After receiving a unanimous support from the Marshall County Council this week and letters of support from both party chairmen the election board created a seven member committee to create the plan that will be presented later this month to the public.  Members of the committee include the three Election Board members; Deb VanDeMark, Sean Surris and Rick Huff.  Other members will be Republican Party Chairman David Holmes and Democrat Party Chair Jim Smart along with Culver Democrat Dan Adams and Plymouth Republican Mike Woolfington.

The plan will be presented to the public on Thursday, January 21st at 6 p.m. in the commissioner’s meeting room on the second floor of the County Building.  The public hearing will allow voters to learn where the vote centers will be located, ask questions and make comments to the plan and share their thoughts on the changes.    Voters will have 30 days after the presentation to make additional suggestions and comments and then the plan will be sent to the state election board for final approval.

The election board is hoping to get the vote centers in place for the May primary.
