Culver Fall Fest 2016_2Fall in love with Culver during Fall Fest, hosted by the Culver Chamber of Commerce. Culver Fall Fest runs October 7-9.

The fun begins Friday evening with a family friendly block party downtown along Main St. featuring live music from “The Time Travelers,” a classic rock band. A beer/wine garden brought to you by Café Maxwill have fire pits for the kids to roast s’mores, straw bales for chillin’ and plenty of room for dancing. Don’t forget that your four legged friends are also welcome. Downtown shops will stay open late (until 8 pm). Be sure to walk through Heritage Park adjacent to downtown and look at local artists talents and find that one of a kind piece you’ve been looking for.

Saturday, October 8 is packed full of things to do.  Start the morning off (8:30 am) by sending hunger packing with the second annual Fun Run/Walk Fundraiser.  Funds go directly towards providing low-income Culver Elementary School children with healthy meals each weekend during the school year! Register online at culverfallfest.com.  After you worked up an appetite, head over to the Lion’s Club Pancake Breakfast at the Train Depot in the park.

Culver Fall Fest 2016_1Downtown will have lots going on throughout the day Saturday beginning at 11. Shop the many vendor booths, take a history hayride with town historian Jeff Kenney, vote for the best chili (Noon-2), and don’t miss the pet parade. A new Kids Craft and Play Area will feature a not-so-scary haunted playhouse, cornbox, dress up area, photo booth, and games sponsored by Buzzworthy Parties. Here you can support your local Girl Scout troop with $2 pumpkin painting and get your own face painted for free thanks for Max’s Playhouse. There is so much happening Saturday, you’ll need to check out the entire schedule which you can find at culverfallfest.com. There will also be plenty for the bigger kids too – Culver-Union Township Public Library Youth Services Department will be hosting a Jenga Tournament for those 6-12 years old and will have itunes gift cards for the winners.

Stay through the evening to witness or take part in the Moonlight Paddle along the shore of Lake Maxinkuckee.  Also Saturday evening there will be some adult fun too. The Fondue Dinner by the Lakehouse Grille will fill your hunger pains and the Oktoberfest Beer Garden brought to you by Culver Coffee Company will not disappoint in quenching your thirst.

Didn’t get enough Saturday? Stick around Sunday to be part of The Kiwanis Cyclocross, part mountain biking, part cross country cycling event. Information can be found at culverfallfest.com. Sunday afternoon brings the opportunity to learn more about the rich heritage of local apple orchards through a history hayride. Find out more here.
