FootballStadium_3During Tuesday’s Plymouth School Board meeting, Superintendent Dan Tyree gave board members an update on the stadium building project.

The Athletic Booster pavilion next to the bleachers was torn down and the restrooms and concession building on the south end of the facility have been demolished.   Tyree said, “After two architects told us that we’d be better off if we just tore it down.”  This work was completed on schedule and the removal of the bleachers is nearly complete.

FootballStadium_1Jackson Services from Rochester was contracted to take down the bleachers and has subcontracted that work with a company from Muncie that refurbishes older bleachers and resells them.

The press box was hoisted off the remaining bleacher structure Thursday evening and will be transported to Plymouth Speedway where it will serve as their new track tower

The bleachers will be going to Minnesota and be re-purposed.

Once demolition is completed the construction of the new facility will begin.

FootballStadium_2Tyree said construction could begin in a couple of weeks as long as the weather holds.  The new ticket windows and entrance will be pushed further to the south and back into the grassy area to allow patrons to stand in line without being in the parking lot.  To the right of the entrance will be a new restroom facility with 3 times as many facilities and on the left will be a new concession stand with some seating under roof while an additional outdoor seating area will be near the bleachers.

The new bleachers will be wrapped and the student body helped selected the design so that it was all inclusive for everyone using the stadium.

Tyree also noted that the football team will enter the playing field from under the middle of the bleachers.
