Police Week_2016_1On Monday, Plymouth FOP Lodge 195 members Shelly Cleveland, Steve Beam, and Hurshel Hunter along with retired Indiana State Police Officers Dave Lattimer and Julian Keiser took a few minutes to honor Ray Reed and Jim Nelson, two officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice for during National Police Week.

A wreath was placed at Indiana Motor Carrier Inspector Ray Reed’s memorial on US 30 just east of WalMart.  Reed was killed in the line of duty on August 3, 1995 while inspecting a semi tractor-trailer.  Ray was the first Indiana Motor Carrier Inspector to be killed in the line of duty.

Police Week2016_2A wreath was also placed on Jim Nelson’s grave in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Jim was a patrolman with the Plymouth Police Department and was killed instantly when his squad car struck the rear of a semitrailer on December 11th 1967.
