In celebration of Indiana’s bicentennial, local architect and preservationist, Kurt Garner, will be premiering a 60-page driving guide highlighting structures and sites in Marshall County that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. During his program, “Historic and Cultural Sites of Marshall County,” on Friday, May 13 at noon at the Marshall County Museum, he will explain what the new guide book has to offer.
Citizens will be able to enjoy the historic downtown districts of Argos, Bremen, Bourbon, Culver and Plymouth; several residential neighborhoods, houses, barns and many other sites of interest are in the guide and will be discussed during the Brown Bag Lunch and Learn event.
Garner will also promote a site-wide driving tour on set for this Saturday, May 14 when several of the historic sites will be open to the public. The May 14 driving tour offers an unique opportunity for families and individuals to step inside a one-room schoolhouse and country church that date back more than 150 years, walk over a historic foot bridge across the Yellow River, discover some of the hidden stone-work along the Tippecanoe River, marvel at the stone legacies created by laborers under the WPA and stumble upon one of the few restored log cabins in Marshall County!
