Mugshot_Lavanway,KrystiIn a July 13th decision Senior Federal Court Judge Barteau rejected a sentence appeal from the Marshall County mother who pleaded guilty to neglect of a dependent resulting in the death of her daughter in December 2015.

Krysti LaVanway tried to appeal the 35 year sentence handed down by Judge Robert Bowen.

In September 2015, 2-year-old Serenity Wilson was allegedly beaten by LaVanway’s boyfriend, Shane Weedling at the Economy Inn motel.

LaVanway was called home by Weedling after he allegedly beat her with a hair brush for wetting the bed. When Krysti came she found her daughter bloody and unconscious but failed to seek medical help for about three hours.

The Indiana Court of Appeals affirmed the judgment of the trial court.

Weedling, who faces charges of murder, aggravated battery, deadly child neglect and possession of marijuana will go to trial on September 27th .
