Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is an American federal holiday observed on the third Monday of January each year. The day is now associated with volunteerism and students from the Plymouth High School Key Club have offered their services for a few years now.
This year students volunteered at the Marshall County Human Society, Miller’s Merry Manor, Pilgrim Manor, the Plymouth Fire Department and Boys and Girls Club.
At the Humane Society it was too cold to walk the dogs outside so the students spent time cleaning animal’s cages, brushing and visiting with the dozens of cats and dogs the shelter has ready for adoption.
At the nursing homes students visited with residents and played games.
PHS students who volunteered at the Plymouth Fire Department spent their time in the bays cleaning fire trucks.
Key Club members spent part of their MLK Day off from school gave back to the Boys and Girls Club of Marshall County. The students spent four hours cleaning and doing various projects for the staff.
