KnightsOfColumbus_Concert2016The Knights of Columbus Council 1975 recently hosted a fundraiser of a different kind. Everyone is used to the regular fish fries and pancake breakfasts that the Knights sponsor. The public even seems to look forward to the Tootsie Roll sales in the spring. And Sunday night BINGO is very well attended at the Knight’s hall. But a Spaghetti Supper and Rock Concert really wowed the crowd that supported the Knights of Columbus a recent Friday the 13th in May.

We just really wanted to try something different”, explained Grand Knight Quentin Flagg. “We have these different fund raisers because the Knights of Columbus are all about helping others. We raise the money and then donate to other organizations as well as to our own church, which is St. Michaels.”

Flagg has produced many concerts in his lifetime as he has been performing around the world since the young age of fourteen. Confident that he could successfully plan the concert, Flagg approached his fellow Knights with the idea of the concert, plus the spaghetti supper. The men agreed and they got busy putting everything in place.

Flagg decided to invite his good friend and fellow entertainer, Steve Bobbitt of Peoria, Illinois to join him in the evening of food and entertainment. Following the delicious spaghetti meal coordinated by Toni Colangelo, Flagg opened the show by singing hits from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. The audience clapped along and some even danced as they heard the styles of Bobby Darin, Elvis, Elton John, John Mellencamp, Neil Diamond, Sinatra, The Monkees, Dean Martin, Brian Setzer, and CCR.

Flagg then turned the stage over to Bobbitt who is a Rod Stewart Tribute Artist. He not only looks like Rod Stewart but he sounds like him as he sings hits such as “Maggie May”, “Downtown Train”, “Hot Legs”, “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” and many more.

But the fun didn’t stop there. The audience went crazy when the two entertainers joined together on hits such as “Makin’ Whoopee” and – after a costume change – “To All The Girls I’ve Loved Before”.

We really had no idea what kind of a crowd to expect since this is our first fundraiser of this sort,” commented Flagg. “But, we are very happy with the turn out. Before the show even started we had to set up eight extra tables! This was a huge success.”
