DONALDSON, IN – The Ancilla College Lady Chargers lost to the Red Hawks of Lake Michigan College in their first Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Conference game in overtime Monday night, 107-99.

The conference opener between Ancilla and Lake Michigan, saw 25 lead changes with the final margin being the largest lead of the night by Lake Michigan. The Chargers led by 15 points with seven minutes to go in regulation play and it was then that the Red Hawks were able to tie the game and force overtime.

“We had some individuals who played really good basketball, but we struggled with our team execution,” said Ancilla women’s basketball coach Tom Robbins.

Khadijah Moore led all scoring for the night pulling a double-double with 31 points and 11 rebounds. Bianca Maxwell also had a double-double for the game with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Teshylia Peters had 14 points in 12 minutes in her debut after being out with a knee injury all year and Jasmine Love also added 14 points and six assists to the Charger stats.

“We had it rolling for a period in the second half and were able to extend the lead to 15 at that point,” commented Robbins. “But then, we went back to a lot of one on one play. Lake Michigan is a tough opponent, but we believe we beat ourselves last night. Even though it was a really good game to watch from a spectator’s point of view.”

The Chargers will be on the road on Wednesday as they head to Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Game time is set for 5:30p.m. The team will return home on Saturday, January 9th in action against Grand Rapids Community College. Tip-Off is set for 1:00p.m.
