Handcuffs-newMonday morning just after 8 the Marshall County Dispatch Center received several calls of a possible impaired driving traveling on US 30.

Officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department located the suspect in the area of US 30 and Michigan Road and conducted a traffic stop.  The driver, 30 year old Brad Herbert Hudgins of LaPorte was suspected to be driving while impaired on a controlled substance.

Hudgins was transported to the hospital for a chemical test and then arrested for Operating While Intoxicated on a controlled substance.  He was booked in to the Marshall County Jail on a $3,000 cash bond.

 

Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
