School Board_Mass Media LJHEight students from Lincoln Junior High shared some of things they are learning in their mass media class as they presented to the Plymouth School Board on Tuesday evening. Under the direction of teacher Paula Neidlinger, both seventh and eighth grade students learn reporting, creating, and producing as they put together daily announcements and cover special events for the Digital Storm TV and Radio program.

Each year the Mass Media Public Relations team holds a “Media Madness Night” as a way to find community sponsorships for the productions.

Both the TV and radio programs are totally controlled by the students.  Each student has a different roll including writing, photography, editor, anchor, interviewing and director.

Both Tallulah Gault and Harlie Mast are a part of the radio productions. They told the Board that they use computers to write scripts and are learning real world terminology used in mass media. They indicated that they have learned to speak aloud to groups and speak more clearly since joining the program

School board member Larry Pinkerton said he had attended the media night last year and said, “I was amazed. I didn’t realize that you (all students) were that far advanced.”
