Marshall County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is pleased to announce it has received a $2,000 grant from the Arrow Head Country Resource Conservation District (RC & D). Arrow Head Country RC&D awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. 30 applications were received this year from 10 eligible counties. Marshall County SWCD will use these funds to host workshops and educational events for local producers teaching them the tools to incorporate conservation practices promoting soil health.
Area producers are encouraged to attend the next Healthy Soils Field Day scheduled for August 23, 2016. Tentative topics include soil pit dig, rain simulator, cover crops, no-till and nutrient management. Round table discussions will allow experienced producers to share their knowledge and experience with attendees. According to Tyson Edwards, Chairman of Marshall County SWCD, “This Healthy Soils Field Day is an excellent opportunity for local producers to see how conservation practices can benefit their bottom line and sustain the environment for future generations.”
