Vote_PrimaryMarshall County Republicans will have a number of choices on the May 3rd Primary ballot.

Friday morning Jason Hall of Olive Trail in Plymouth filed for the District 2 Commissioner Seat.  This is the seat currently held by Deb Griewank.  She has decided not to seek a second term and early on Mike Delp from Plymouth filed on the republican ticket for the same seat.

Kevin Overmyer, Commissioner for District 3 will be challenged in the primary by Bill Githens, a current member of the County Council.

Another big race the republicans will decide on May 3rd is that for County Treasurer.  Currently held by Penny Lukenbill the seat has three challengers; Angie Johnson Birchmeier, William Cleavenger and Steve Heim.

The Coroner’s office also has a race.  William Cleavenger is the current coroner completing his second term and cannot seek a third term according to state statue.  Former Marshall County Coroner, John Grolich is seeking another go at the position he’s already held for 8 years.  Also on the ballot will be Bridget Hite, the current Marshall County Deputy Coroner.

Four republicans have filed for the surveyor’s race; Craig Cultice, Rex Gilliland, Don Heckford and Dennis Morrison.

There’s quite a bit of interest in the three County Council at Large seats. Two incumbents, Steve Harper and Jon VanVactor will be challenged by Toni Hutchings, Penny Lukenbill, Jim Masterson and Jack Roose in the Primary.

The democrats don’t have any races in the primary.  They do have several who have filed and will challenge the republican winners in the November General Elections.

Rex Crump has filed for the District 2 Commissioner seat and will challenge either Mike Delp Sr. or Jason Hall in the fall.

The democrats also have three candidates for the 3 at-large County Council seats.  John Nifong, Julian “Jud” Rouch and Donna Wenzel will challenge the three top vote getters on the republican ticket in November.

The GOP can take 15 delegates to the state convention and there are 19 on the ballot so republican will have to select the 15 they want to represent them.  Contenders are: Rhonda Anderson, Jesse Bohannon, Jon Bohannon, Terry Burkins, William Cleavenger, David Fortin, Bill Githens, Timothy Harman, David Holmes, Janice Holmes, Charles Houin, Rob Kadlec, Stephen Neff, Kevin Overmyer, Matthew Sarber, Susan Sauer, Samuel Schlosser, Sean Surrisi and Deborah VanDeMark.

The democrats can take 12 so they won’t have a race.  On their ballot are Susan Crump, Mary Jo Finley, James Helmke, Michael Leda, Michelle Livinghouse and Julian “Jud” Rouch.

Any republican wishing to vote in the May 3rd Primary must be registered by 4:00 Monday, April 4, 2016 or midnight if they submit a registration online.
