This week Marshall County will take a day and meet with citizens who are willing to fill out a housing survey. Hoping to get a better understand the scope of the homeless population in the county the survey is also looking for families and individuals who have housing issues, couch surging, facing eviction, insecure housing or stuck in an unsafe place.
In the most recent report, the Department of Housing and Urban Development shows no homeless people in Marshall County while many organizations know there are.
Survey day is Wednesday, January 27th and will give the county a more accurate count of the homeless population.
Locations and time where the surveys are being completed are:
NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER at 402 Garro Street in Plymouth from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., the HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS in Plymouth from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., the BREAD OF LIFE FOOD PANTRY at 125 East LaPorte Street in Plymouth from noon till 5 p.m., the COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER at 510 West Adams Street from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. and the BREMEN SENIOR CENTER at 1754 Plymouth Street from 11 am-3 pm.
The survey may help Marshall County qualify for federal grant opportunities such as housing assistance and job training.
