Mary Ankrapp, Blood Donor Recruitment Specialist with the Medical Foundation in South Bend thanked the citizens of Plymouth and Mayor Mark Senter for their generous commitment to improving the lives of those in need of blood products during last week blood donation drive. Ankrapp said, “The Medical Foundation is reliant on the help from volunteers to provide this lifesaving gift.”
There were a total of 29 successful units collected and only 3 deferrals.
One unit of blood can save the lives of up to 3 people so a total of 87 people could potentially benefit from the Mayor’s drive. The blood collected will go to help recipients suffering from cancer, trauma, blood disorders, surgery, pregnancy complications, or several other medical emergencies.
