Dave LattimerPlymouth Municipal Airport Manager, Dave Lattimer gave an interesting and informative presentation about what is planned for 2016 at the airport to the Plymouth Lions Club.

Lattimer told the club the airport was built in 1964 and opened in 1965 and provides service to the entire county.  In 2015 the runway was rebuilt and widened by 15 feet making it now 75 feet wide.

A big project for this year is the increase in hanger space and plans to rehabilitate hanger taxiways.  Plans to relocate Lilac Road will come in four phases, and then a new Airport entrance road will be constructed.  New LED Medium Intensity Runway Lighting will be installed, a new Solar Park will be constructed and an Automated Weather Observing System will also be installed.  The remaining runway will be widened and hanger Taxiways “T1” and “T2” will be extended and an 8-unit T-Hanger will be constructed.

Lattimer added that the airport will be connected to the city sewer system this year and reminded everyone that a medical helicopter is at the airport serving four counties.  Plans are underway for flight training hopefully this summer.

In other business, upcoming fundraisers were discussed for scholarships to be awarded to worthy seniors this spring.
