Boys & Girls Club are a safe place to learn and grow ~ all while having fun.  It is the place where great futures are started each and every day. As with everything in life, maintaining a program like this incurs ongoing costs to operate. On July 6th, Oliver Ford Lincoln presented some much-needed help in the form of a check for $5,960, money raised during the Drive One 4Ur Community event held on Saturday, May 14th.

Billie Treber, Director of Boys & Girls Club of Marshall County, had this to say about the event: “We are so aware how precious time is for EVERYbody these days, so the fact that 298 people took the time to test drive their favorite Ford is a really big deal, and we can’t thank them enough!”

When asked how the funds will be used, Treber replied, “We’re expanding our program, shifting our STEM curriculum to focus more on science than the robotics which we’ve favored the last few years.  That means we need equipment ~ microscopes and such ~ to allow the kids to delve deeper. As is always our goal, we will provide the tools to allow the children we serve to develop into well-rounded adults.”

Here in the height of summer, the Boys & Girls Club of Marshall County serves as a haven for 110 children in an average day. John Oliver, III, General Manager of Oliver Ford Lincoln and Club President was pleased to present the check on Monday.

Ford Motor Company and Oliver Ford Lincoln have teamed up for as many of these Drive One events as we’re able because it’s just a great way for us to give back to the community. Knowing these kids have a safe place to learn and grow, with a chance to participate in life-enhancing programs and character development experiences?  Well, you just can’t put a dollar value on that! We are thrilled to be able to be a part of giving hope and opportunity to the children of Marshall County”, said Oliver.

Though they are given limited opportunity for these matching-funds events from Ford, Oliver Ford Lincoln’s next Drive One event will take place at Culver Community Schools on August 20, 2016.
