operation round up..As of January 26, the Marshall County REMC Operation Round Up program has donated over $50,000 to local charities in the community.  At the January board meeting $4,900 was given to the following organizations:

  • Bourbon Volunteer Fire Department received funding to purchase one automated external defibrillator (AED) needing replaced. The Bourbon Volunteer Department provides fire protection and emergency response services to the township of Bourbon.
  • The Boys and Girls Club of Marshall County received funding to purchase play equipment. The Boys and Girls Club of Marshall County inspire and enable all young people, especially those in need, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.  Each day, the club averages 115 youth from Marshall County.
  • The Bread of Life Food Pantry received funding to assist with the purchase of a new refrigerator to safely and economically store perishable food. The Bread of Life Food Pantry serves an average of 500 hungry families in Marshall County and surrounding areas.
  • Marshall County Meat Goats received funding to help with the purchase of new cages for the goats.
  • REAL Services, Inc. received funding to assist with operating expenses of the Adult Guardianship Services Program in Marshall County.  REAL Services, Inc. help establish a community in which those we serve can maintain their independence to the maximum degree possible and find meaning and satisfaction throughout their lives.

The Operation Round Up program allows Marshall County REMC members to reach out to worthy causes in their community and work together to help others. Thank you to those members who round up their electric bill to the next highest dollar each month and to the Marshall County Community Foundation for making these donations possible. You have helped donate over $50,000 to organizations in the community!

The next round of grants will be awarded in April. Charitable organizations within the Marshall County REMC service territory are eligible to apply.  The organization does not have to be a member of Marshall County REMC. Applicants can be picked up at the REMC office or downloaded at www.marshallremc.com.
