DONALDSON, IN – The Chargers of Ancilla College’s women’s basketball team saw a tough loss to Lake Michigan College,Saturday afternoon in an overtime defeat of 98-93.

 

A tight race right down to the final seconds, was the action the crowd saw on Saturday as both teams went point for point down the court. At the end of the first quarter, the Red Hawks led the Chargers by two. At the end of the half, Lake Michigan continued to lead over Ancilla by five. At the end of the final buzzer, the two were tied up 83-83 leading to overtime. As the Chargers fought to pull ahead, they were unable to maintain the gap and in the final seconds, Lake Michigan was able to capture the win.

 

Bianca Maxwell led the Chargers with a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds. Khadijah Moore put up 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds and Teshylia Peters added 17 points and eight rebounds.

 

“I was very proud of the way the players fought in this game. We executed a number of things that we had previously been struggling on,” commented Tom Robbins, head Ancilla College Coach. “Daitriona Bonds had a huge game for us from a heart perspective. She played very hard.”

 

Saturday’s game brought the Chargers record to 14-8 overall and 4-5 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Conference. The team will play home on Wednesday against conference rivals Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Tip-Off is scheduled for 5:30p.m.
