Lauren matternPlymouth High School sophomore Loren Mattern, has been presented with an great opportunity.  She has applied and been accepted into a summer program  for high school students at the Ivy League institution at Brown University.

The program attracts aggressive like-minded students, ambitious and driven in their educational pursuits.

At this time Loren is trying to raise money to be able to afford this opportunity that will allow her to take a two-week summer course called Econometrics.  After graduation, her higher education plans are focused towards business management and marketing. Loren said she applied to take the Econometrics course to further her knowledge and become better prepared for her future. The simplest way to define econometrics is statistical methods used by economists.

Loren said, “I constantly yearn for success: looking at IVY League colleges, business programs, and looking for scholarships. Basically, I’m always planning for the future, and I love it.”

“The costs of going to this program are hefty and that is why I’m asking for help. The application is $50, the deposit is $300, the overall cost for the venture is $3886, and a round-trip ticket is estimated to be $838: this comes to a total of $4724. The reason I’m asking to reach my goal of $5000 is so that I will be prepared for any unexpected expenses.  To be able to go I will need the complete $2541 by May 26th,” Mattern said.

Loren Mattern has set up a “Go Fund Me” campaign to raise money to help her reach her goals. To read more or to help, visit www.gofundme.com/z4rpe78c. She said donations are greatly appreciated, but she is also willing to be presented with job opportunities to work for the funds. Loren currently has a cumulative weighted GPA above a 4.0.
