CrashInvestigationOn Sunday morning, May 1st at 5:19, an off-duty South Bend Firefighter Medic noticed a vehicle that had ran off the south side of Veterans Parkway just east of the intersection with U.S. 31.

The driver, 16 year old Alexander Rostron of Plymouth was the only occupant in the vehicle.  It is believed that Rostron was traveling home from an after prom party in the Plymouth area.  Evidence at the scene of the accident suggests that the 2006 Honda passenger car traveled off the south side the roadway.  The first point of impact was in the bottom of the ditch line where the majority of the damage to the vehicle was sustained.  The vehicle then impacted with a fence row before coming to a final stop.

Rostron was able to exit the damaged vehicle and was later found by the South Bend Firefighter Medic.  It is unknown the exact time that Rostron ran off the road or how long he had been lying in the ditch.  Rostron was transported by Plymouth EMS to Memorial Hospital of South Bend and is currently listed in Stable but Critical condition at Memorial Hospital according to family and medical staff.

County Police Officer Ryan Hollopeter is investigating the crash and stated, there was no evidence at the scene that alcohol was a factor in the collision, but results are still pending.  The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is still continuing to investigate contributing factors to the cause of the collision.
